Čebelnjak Anton was developed as a student project at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, marking the 110th anniversary of the founding of the Ljubljana Beekeepers’ Association. Under the guidance of their mentors, students Nika Jeromel and Erika Slovša designed an urban apiary in Plečnik Park along the Gradaščica River.
The architecture of the apiary brings together Slovenian tradition and a contemporary expression, poetically raising current questions about the relationship between nature and the city, the interpretation of tradition, and public space. Through their original architectural gesture, the authors do not offer unequivocal answers to these questions, but instead leave room for reflection.
