Main Square in Vipava – Jury Report
The authors of the renovation project for the square in Vipava have, through a respectful approach to the existing context and an insightful reading of the space, created an atmosphere in which nothing is superfluous. The renovated square does not compete with the existing architecture; rather, it emphasizes it through restrained and carefully considered interventions.
The jury recognized the greatest quality of the solution precisely in the restraint of its architectural language. The authors chose not to burden the space with pronounced formal gestures, but instead opted for an intervention based on a respectful dialogue with what already exists. The square has thus not become an architectural object in its own right, but functions as a spatial framework that enables a clearer reading and perception of the historic urban fabric.
