The opening of the exhibition Plečnik Awards 2025: A Benchmark at the DESSA Gallery took place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 8:00 p.m., preceded by a roundtable discussion titled Calibrating for the Contemporary at 6:00 p.m.
The exhibition presents the recipients of the 2025 Plečnik Awards, the winning projects, and the creators whose work is shaping contemporary architecture, landscape architecture, and urbanism in Slovenia. Prior to the exhibition opening, the roundtable discussion “Calibrating for the Contemporary” focused on reflections regarding current approaches and values in the architectural profession. In a conversation with the award winners, moderated by Eva Gusel and Maja Vardjan, topics related to the criteria of quality, context, and social significance of architectural practices today were explored. The roundtable was designed as a re-examination of the existing and, in some respects, outdated architectural discourse, thereby continuing the recent transformation of the Plečnik Awards.
