The traditional opening of the 2024 Plečnik Award exhibition took place on May 21 at 8:00 p.m. at the DESSA Gallery.
“The presentation of the Plečnik Awards is a unique ceremony that has been taking place for 51 years with the festive announcement of new architectural achievements each time... The Plečnik Awards are presented to original works that embody Plečnik’s ethos and simultaneously address diverse contemporary social challenges. This solemn ceremony is not merely a testament to the past, but also a guidepost that directs our gaze toward the future and emphasizes artistic, technical, and social responsibility in shaping our shared space. The award ceremony offers a reflection on the virtues of architecture in a dynamic environment that faces many questions regarding the future of our society and environment. Transcending the conventional, looking beyond economic and spatial barriers, seeking better solutions, offering new visions, and consistent precision in execution are the imperatives of all design—in the past, present, and future. This year’s award-winning works also follow these principles,” wrote this year’s jury—Matej Vozlič, Blaž Babnik Romaniuk, Matjaž Bolčina, Luka Javornik, and Mia Roth Čerina—among other things.
All recipients of the 2024 Plečnik Awards were presented at the exhibition.
