THE JOŽE PLEČNIK ARCHITECTURE FUND
announces
the 2026 Plečnik Awards—the premier national recognition for outstanding works in the fields of architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, and interior design, executed within the territory of the Republic of Slovenia, as well as for works executed in Slovenian border regions that enrich Slovenia’s spatial culture.
Eligible works include those completed in the last three years in the field of landscape architecture and those completed in the last five years.
The Plečnik Awards consist of the Plečnik Award and the Plečnik Medals. The Plečnik Award is presented to a completed work that best embodies the mission of the Plečnik Awards.
The Plečnik Medals are awarded in the following categories:
Plečnik Medal for Large-Scale Architectural Realization,
Plečnik Medal for Large-Scale Architectural Realization,
Plečnik Medal for Small-Scale Architectural Realization,
Plečnik Medal for Public Space,
Plečnik Medal for Professional Journalism,
Plečnik Medal for Enriching Spatial Culture.
From among the three categories—large-scale architectural projects, small-scale architectural projects, and public space—the jury awards two Plečnik Medals and one Plečnik Award. In the category to which the work receiving the Plečnik Award belongs, no Plečnik Medals are awarded.
The Fund also specifically announces a student award in the form of a scholarship. The Plečnik Fund scholarship is intended to encourage a master’s student in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, or another space-related field at the beginning of their professional career and is awarded in recognition of the recipient’s academic and extracurricular work.
Anyone, including the authors of the proposed works, may submit or nominate a candidate for the award. Candidates for the Jože Plečnik Fund scholarship are nominated by a mentor or a higher education institution.
Submit nominations by Monday, January 26, 2026, using the form on the website www.plecnikovsklad.si, where all instructions for preparing nominations are published.
The Plečnik Award and Plečnik Medals for 2026 will be selected by a jury appointed by the Fund’s General Assembly:
